5/20/2023 0 Comments Dodge dart 2013![]() Pressing the gas pedal to get to highway speeds forces the Dart to ponder life for a few seconds before remembering that it is a car that needs to go fast. Another con is the turbo lag being almost excessive. The vehicle has a tendency to really jerk into gear due to the DDC transmission that having to have the clutch values relearned is a necessity when purchasing used. The shift quality of the Dart is lacking. I was beyond fortunate to still have some powertrain warranty left to get them covered, but it was a close call for two expensive parts. I had the misfortune of experiencing both of these parts fail within the same year. There's almost two mechanical issues that are nearly guaranteed to go wrong with any Dart, the hydraulic shifter and the turbo. We had to fill it up once every 500 miles, which isn't bad for a 14-gallon tank. The car performed really well during the trip. It was a lot of time in the car, so we had some good quality bonding time. Got to see the Grand Canyon, which I thought was pretty cool it was on my bucket list. Visited a friend in Montana and another one in California. Went to Vegas one night and took advantage of free drinks while only playing penny slots, which we though was kind of funny. It was my first time skiing on a real mountain not a hill. We love to ski, so we had a couple nights' visit to Big Sky Ski resort in Montana. We like to gamble, so we stopped in every casino in a reasonable distance without messing up our planned route. Even though I am not a fan, I think Lambo Field is an historical stadium so I went. On the way on the trip, we went to a Packers game. We live in Michigan so we have been to the East Coast, before but we never have been west of Iowa. I think we put over 7,000 miles on it in two weeks. I did one cross the USA trip in it with it buddy, and it was fun. I am sorry I forgot the brand name, but it is not Firestone or Michelin. I learned my lesson to never get that brand of tires again. I replaced the tires twice in 80,000 miles. I ran over literally half a staple (the tire change guy showed it to me, and I got a flat). The one major issue have with the cars is the tires. I am sure it would be useful for a lot of people besides me though. It also has Bluetooth capabilities, though I never once tried it. It also has a charging station/usb plug-in, which is really handy on long trips. That means I can at least throw in one more golf bag in my car. When there are people not in the back seat, the seats fold down. They say it is five-seat car, but it is extremely packed especially in the back seat with three people. I think the car has plenty of leg room up front, but in the back seat not so much. The radio is average with I think 180-watt speakers. I don't know off the distance it takes to make a circle. The acceleration is what you except from a small car. Overall, it has a 160 horsepower engine, which is a little bit more then average for a four cylinder. I got it for around $22,000 after taxes and fees. Another good thing is it was a decent value. A good thing about it is its gas mileage I am averaging 35 mpg.
